AUGUSTA, Ga. --- It takes a lot of people and equipment to set up the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
"It's a great undertaking. It's definitely not a one-man-show. It's a lot of teamwork putting this show together," Jason Gibson said.
Jason Gibson is the production manager for the circus and says they bring ten tractor trailers filled with lights and equipment, 100 cast and crew members, six tigers, three elephants, five dogs, and that's just the beginning of the list.
"We know with our equipment, it's the same each and every week. So we have that consistency, and that's the thing is about consistency. From the first show to the 500th show it's got to be the same," Gibson said.
Some of the performers even put together their own equipment, like the motorcycle globe of steel. It's one of many acts you'll see this weekend at the circus.
"If you're 10 years old or if you're 80 years old, you're still going to have a lot of fun. It's for children of all ages," Gibson said.
The circus starts Thursday night at 7:00 at the James Brown Arena. There will also be shows Friday night at 7:00, Saturday at 3:00 and 7:00, and Sunday the show will start at 1:30. Tickets are $11 for opening night and the rest of the shows start at $15.
Every show has an all access pre-show where you can come an hour before and meet the performers, and take pictures with them. They also have a wardrobe rack where you can try on costumes from previous shows.
