The arts in Augusta have been having a tough go of it recently, but the Augusta Opera is excited about its upcoming season.
Wednesday they announced they would show Man of La Mancha in October, Hansel and Gretel next March, and La Boheme in May.
The Opera will again bring international stars for their 41st season, but local performers also play a big role.
"We do try to cast locally," says managing director Les Reagan. "A lot of our secondary roles and the chorus is all volunteer. And we have a very wonderful chorus. Some people have been doing operas for 38 years."
You can get series tickets or passes for individual performances by calling the Opera office at 706-826-4710, or by visiting their website at www.augustaopera.com.
