AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A woman wanted for allegedly scamming multiple people in downtown Augusta has been arrested.
Victims say 46-year-old Eva Smith would come up to them and ask for money. Smith would tell them they would be reimbursed at the Sheriff's Office. When the victims showed up to the Sheriff's Office to collect the money, they were informed of the scam.
Smith is charged with theft by deception and is being held on $1,300 bond.
