A 33-year-old woman died after going into cardiac arrest in Jefferson County Jail, according to Jefferson County Sheriff

JEFFERSON Co., Ga. (WRDW) -- A 33-year-old woman died after going into cardiac arrest in Jefferson County Jail, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Sonya Cecilia Mitchell, from Atlanta, complained to jail staff that she wasn't feeling well at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday., according to the report. EMS personnel arrived and transported Mitchell to Jefferson Hospital where she later died.

Mitchell was being held on a Superior Court Probation warrant since Aug. 7, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy was performed on Monday and the cause and manner of death is pending.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
