AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A woman has been charged with deprivation of a minor after allegedly leaving her 2-year-old locked in a pickup truck on Washington Road.
The Sheriff's Office received a call from a witness Saturday afternoon who said the boy had been inside the truck in the Travelodge parking lot for at least an hour. Deputies were able to unlock the door and get the boy out.
The boy's mother, 31-year-old Heather Greene of Hephzibah, approached deputies on the scene and told them the child was hers.
Deputies also found prescription pills inside the truck, which Greene said she had bought from someone staying at the Travelodge. Greene was also charged with possession of alprazolam.
The child is now in custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.
