UPDATE: Clearwater stabbing victim identified

CLEARWATER, S.C. (WRDW) -- The victim of a stabbing in Clearwater has been identified.

A Midland Valley fireman and first responder discovered 35-year-old Leroy Larid at the corner of Avalon Lane and Parker Drive around 9 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.He was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

Larid told deputies that he was approached by a man who asked him for money. He said that when he refused to give him money, the man stabbed him in his left shoulder and ran into the woods.

Deputies searched the surrounding area for the man, who is described as a bald white male wearing blue jeans.

CLEARWATER, S.C. (WRDW) -- Investigators are looking into a stabbing after the victim was found behind the Sprint gas station on Jefferson Davis Highway.

A firefighter driving by saw a body lying on the side of the road and called it in. This happened in the area of Avalon Lane and Parker Drive.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
