Thieves make off with cigarettes, sweet tea, potato chips

Thursday, July 26, 2012

MARTINEZ, Ga. -- Columbia County deputies are on the lookout for a pair of thieves who made off with cigarettes, sweet tea and potato chips.

Investigators say the theft happened at the Walgreens store at 672 Furys Ferry Road earlier this month.

They have released a surveillance picture of the two women they are looking for. Investigators say one woman tried to pay with a check, but it was declined. A worker says the second woman had already started loading the groceries into the back of a small, silver SUV. Employees were able to retrieve most of the items, but say the woman made off with the smokes, tea and chips.

If you recognize the two women, give the Sheriff's Office a call.
