Friday, July 6, 2012

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The main suspect in a fatal shooting outside of an Augusta nightclub has turned himself in.

Marcus Washington turned himself in to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Friday afternoon. He is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. on Kissingbower Road and Gordon Highway, outside of Alter Ego'z.

Investigators say 23-year-old Marcus Washington was involved in a physical fight with 18-year-old Devin Washington. They were eventually separated and were both leaving when Marcus Washington allegedly got a gun from a car and started firing shots in the direction of Devin Washington and 22-year-old Pr'Shawn Williams. Devin Washington and Williams came to the club in the same car.

Investigators tell us Williams was shot once in the head and once in the upper left leg. He was taken to GHSU for treatment and died from his injuries at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

This is Richmond County’s 17th homicide in 2012.
