UPDATE: Investigators say couple may have falsely reported carjacking

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Investigators now say a reported carjacking from over the weekend was actually a drug deal.

Deputies say the man and woman who made the complaint admitted to trying to buy drugs, but they say the couple did not have enough money, so they got scared.

Investigators say that's why they think the couple made up the story about being forced to get money out of an ATM on Windsor Spring Road on Sunday morning.

There is no word on if the couple will be charged or not.
