Suspect arrested in attempted robbery at Food Mart

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to rob the Food Mart on East Boundary Street.

The victim, a store employee, said the man came to the store armed with a silver handgun on March 28 around 3:55 a.m. According to the incident report, the man was told the employee, "Give me the money or I'll kill you." The employee says he locked himself in behind the counter shield.

According to the incident report, the employee says he did not report the incident because "he felt panicked."

On April 20, the employee says he saw the man in the store again. The employee says he called the man a robber and that the man ran out of the store.

The suspect was later identified as 34-year-old Tracy Jamel Baker. Baker is charged with felony criminal attempt, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond.
