UPDATE: Aiken Co. standoff suspect detained

WAGENER, S.C. (WRDW) -- The suspect in an Aiken County standoff has been detained on probate papers and is en route to the hospital.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the standoff situation at a home on New Holland Road on Monday afternoon.
It started around 2:30 p.m. after the suspect allegedly "made suicidal comments." The man allegedly fired a shotgun into the air several times.
The Aiken SWAT Team eventually stormed the house, but the man was no longer inside, which is when a search began. Investigators say he may have escaped out of the back door of the home before the decision was made to send the SWAT Team in.
Deputies say the man will not face any charges and will be taken to a mental facility after evaluation.
