AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Four people are recovering after a stabbing outside a club in downtown Augusta. It happened outside of Club Rehab on Broad Street between 9th and 10th Street a little after 2 a.m. Friday.

"The first word that comes to mind is horrific," said Michael Kelly, who witnessed the whole incident. "The guy with the knife came outside the club in a tank top with the knife in his hand. I yelled out, 'He has a knife in his hand.'"

Kelly says that's when the stabbing began.

"I'm really hurt because I was right there and I couldn't do nothing. I felt helpless," he said.

Kelly and his friends were inside the club. Investigators say there was an argument over a girl so bar security kicked them out.

"The patrons inside, the security of them comes first," said Dennis King, who does security for Club Rehab. "If something's going on in there, we have to put them out and what happened out here -- sorry to say this -- it happened, we can't stop that."

After they were kicked out, they came out the door and onto the sidewalk where the stabbing happened. In the daylight, blood could be seen covering the ground. When an officer pulled up, everyone ran, scattering across the street into the parking lot where the ambulances picked them up.

"Life is short this could've been prevented all this from happening by just saying 'I don't know you, you don't know me. Whatever just happened don't even worry about it bro'," said Joshua Black. He was friends with the victims and inside the club when the argument happened.

But unfortunately, that's not what happened, and now four people are left with injuries as a result of the violence. That violence is something witnesses say has become all too common.

"I'm a native of Augusta," Kelly said. "It didn't ever used to be this bad. Now it's to the point that you're scared to even go out and have a good time at night in Augusta."

"Everywhere is dangerous," King said. "You can't hide from crime no matter where you go. In your house, in your sleep."

Three people were taken to the hospital for stab wounds. The possible suspect was taken for a head injury.

Investigators are working to figure out exactly how the argument started and what the charges will be.
