UPDATE: 1 injured in stabbing at a Family Dollar on Deans Bridge Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- One woman is in the hospital after getting stabbed in the chest multiple times.

Deputies say it happened at the Family Dollar at 2914 Deans Bridge Road around 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, officers found Tonya S. Terry inside the store with several stab wounds to the chest.

Deputies say Terry was unable to communicate because of her condition and was taken immediately to the GRU trauma unit. She's currently listed in critical condition.

Officers says the victim in this case, 27-year-old India Quantania Upshaw, was being assaulted by Terry and stabbed her in self-defense.

No charges have been filed against Upshaw at this time.
