WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (AP) -- One man is dead and another clinging to life after an early-morning argument escalated in a gun battle at a South Carolina restaurant.

The Charleston County coroner's office said 19-year-old Dontaye Reed of Ravenel died in the shooting.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that a gunman outside a West Ashley Waffle House restaurant traded shots with people inside the building around 4 a.m. Sunday.
