HARLEM, Ga. -- News 12 has learned the adopted daughter of convicted child molester and former Columbia County Commissioner Scott Dean has been arrested.
Marlin Dean is in the Columbia County Jail for charges of burglary and theft by taking. She is being held without bond.
Investigators tell News 12 this happened at a home in Harlem on Saturday. The alleged victim is Renee Dean, Marlin's adopted mother. We're told 19-year-old Marlin did not live at the home, but Renee Dean reported missing jewelry.
Harlem Police say had been working with Columbia County deputies for several days until Saturday's arrest.
Marlin's adopted father, Scott, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of two counts of child molestation in December.
He was convicted of sexually molesting one of his other adopted daughters, touching her and exposing himself to her.
Speculation involving Scott Dean began in October of 2010 when Marlin, who goes by Lilly, went missing until she was found in Mexico.
Soon after running away to Mexico with her boyfriend, she told investigators that her father tried having sex with her, a claim she now denies.
Marlin recanted her testimony during the trial.
In June, a judge denied a new trial for the former Harlem mayor and commissioner.
