UPDATE: Suspect in attempted murder still missing in Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. -- The manhunt has been called off for John Drayton Jr., but investigators say he is still missing and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Investigators say Drayton put a gun to his girlfriend's head. She was able to run off and that's when he allegedly fired a shot at her. Investigators say he missed, and the woman was not hurt.

This all happened on Nautulius Street near Snipes Pond Road Wednesday morning.

AIKEN, S.C. -- As of 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, investigators were still looking for John Drayton Jr.

He was last seen in a white tank top, blue jeans and flip-flops.

Anyone with information about this crime or Drayton's whereabouts is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709. Individuals can also call Crimestoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward between $50 and $1,000.

AIKEN, S.C. -- The Aiken County Sheriff's Office SWAT team is searching the surrounding area of Nautilus Street for a man considered to be armed and dangerous.

John Drayton Jr. was last seen in a white tank top, blue jeans and flip-flops. He was already wanted for criminal domestic violence and is now wanted for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Investigators say the victim, Drayton's girlfriend, went to a home on Nautilus Street Wednesday morning and saw Drayton and her friend in bed together. She says Drayton then began hitting and choking her before letting her go.

The victim went outside, which she says is when Drayton pointed the handgun at her head and shot it in her direction.

She told Drayton she would call the police, to which he allegedly said, "Go ahead, I'll shoot them, too." The victim said Drayton mentioned going to get his AK-47.
