HEPHZIBAH, Ga. -- The coroner tells News 12 the man suspected of killing his girlfriend and then shooting himself has died.

He was taken off life support Saturday afternoon. Deputies have identified him as 51-year-old Daniel Gray.

The victim, believed to be his girlfriend, is 42-year-old Sandra Mae Studer. She did not live at the home. Autopsy results reveal she died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies responded to Gray's home on the 3100 block of Bath Patterson Road in Hephzibah Friday night.

Initially, investigators responded to a murder-suicide, but the man was put on life support. Deputies believe Gray's gunshot wound was self-inflicted. They are working to find out if he shot his girlfriend.

Gray's body will be transferred to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy on Monday.
