AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Richmond County deputy is recovering from a broken ankle after getting injured while responding to a call.
Deputies received calls about a suspicious person on the 600 block of Broad Street around 4 a.m. Sunday. When they got to the scene, they say 40-year-old Barry Lee Davis was acting erratic. Deputies called an ambulance after Davis started complaining about having trouble breathing and chest pains.
While deputies were gathering information, they say Davis took off running, taking off all of his clothing.
When he reached the 800 block, he allegedly started throwing himself up against the windows of multiple businesses. Deputies say when they tried to restrain Davis, he started fighting with them.
Deputy Ronald Blanton broke his ankle during the altercation.
Davis has been charged with felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
