AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- A participant in the first Aiken Safe Communities call-in is now behind bars.

Kennard Thomas, 22, is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm after investigators say he pointed a handgun at a family member in New Ellenton on Saturday.

Thomas attended the Aiken Safe Communities call-in on Jan. 30, and this charge violates the notice he was given by the panel. Call-in participants face stiffer penalties and expedited trials if they re-offend. Click here to read more about the program.

Multiple agencies searched for Thomas on Sunday but were not able able to find him. Thomas turned himself in on Monday and is now being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Additional charges for Thomas could be coming.
