AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 now has the former YDC director's personnel file.
Ronald Brawner announced his resignation on Oct. 29 after being suspended following the escape of five inmates.
It is a 56-page file that begins with his resignation letter, talks about his salary, and in writing, how officials say he dropped the ball the night of the escapes.
You will also find certificates from Brenau University and Georgia Military College; references praising his strengths, calling Brawner trustworthy, caring and enthusiastic.
But, everything ultimately falls on him, so when five inmates escaped almost a month ago, new documents reveal Brawner didn't respond accurately.
In the memo, a DJJ regional supervisor reprimands the former director for "significant problems with his inadequate supervision."
On the night of the escape, the document notes a lock was broken and it was never reported. It also points to the notification time in which the guards contacted the Sheriff's Office.
The call was made two hours later. The move almost cost Brawner his job until he called it quits on Oct. 29.
The documents also say the youth were out of control prior to moving to the gym. It says guards had issues with counts and moving the youth and they cite that broken lock.
Director of Security Melvin Womble is now the acting director.
