AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Investigators are working to identify a man involved in a flimflam scam that happened on Halloween.
The man came into the Check Exchange on Wrightsboro Road and handed the clerk five $20 bills sand five $10 bills, asking to exchange these for a $100 bill and a $50 bill.
The clerk says she saw him take the $50 bill and put it in his pocket. When she handed him the $100 bill, she says he slid the bill out of his closed hand and put it in his pocket but kept it in his hand. He then showed her a $1 bill and said she only gave him $1.
The clerk, thinking she had made a mistake, then gave him a $100 bill.
Later that night when the clerk was counting down her register, she noticed she was $99 short.
The suspect, a man in his early 30s with a medium brown complexion, drove a white Toyota Camry. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a white T-shirt and jeans at the time of the incident.
