Monday, Oct. 15, 2012

LANGLEY, S.C. -- The man accused of shooting a man in the face and breaking into another home in June has pleaded guilty.

Kevin Claeys pleaded guilty to attempted murder, kidnapping and two counts of burglary in the first degree on Monday.

Claeys fired a gun at his home on Augusta Road before running to a nearby home on Gray Street, where he forced a couple inside and shot a man in the face. He then broke into a home on Jackson Street where two women were living. One of the women was able to call 911 and the other escaped.

Claeys was released from prison in 2010 after serving time for drug and theft charges. He has been in and out of prison since 2002 for a host of charges, ranging from assault and battery with intent to kill to disorderly conduct.
