Augusta, GA (WRDW)--- An early morning shooting in the Pepperidge subdivision has left a family in tears and neighbors in shock.

Officers say they found Brandi Paulk and Lee Wilson dead from a gunshot wound at the scene. Brandi's sister April Paulk was also shot and taken to GRU. The family says she's still in critical condition.

Family members say what makes this even more tragic is that the gunman was married to April.

"Well on my street it is kind of surprising, because it's normally very quiet," said a neighbor.

The shooting took place at a home on Stanton Court. Police say Cedric Tobias Harris is the trigger man who took two lives and left another one's in jeopardy.

"I just busted out in tears," said Tammy Tanksley.

Tanksley is related to two of the victims and says while some are shocked by this tragedy she isn't. She says April Paulk, who's in critical condition, would tell her horror stories about the husband she was trying to separate from.

"Verbally, emotionally, physically, the whole nine," said Tanksley.

And when we asked for specifics she said he "push[ed] her out of a moving car. She texted me on the day he pushed her out of a moving car," Tanksley told News12.

Tanksley says she immediately told April to get some help before things got worse.

"I told her to call the police and she said she did. She was trying to get a restraining order, but there was a process she had to go through," said Tanksley.

Investigators say details on domestic violence issues are limited at first, so they can't confirm Paulk was trying to get help. However, they did say the process begins in the courts and the sheriff's office can't do anything until they get paperwork from them. Tanksley says either way she still can't accept this happened.

"I just talked to my sister in law. That's my sister and I couldn't believe it," she said.

To make matters even worse, that family member tells News12 all the victims had families and children. April, who's in critical condition, has four school age children, and the other two deceased victims had a baby recently.

We still don't know at this time how it happened. Because it's a domestic violence issue, the sheriff's office can't tell us much.

Officers say the alleged gunman, Harris died from what looks like a self inflicted gun shot wound.
