Man indicted in accident that killed Columbia Co. student

Friday, Nov. 30, 2012

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. -- The man accused of hitting and killing a high school student back in September has been indicted.

Lucky Wade Jackson, 38, was indicted on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide on Friday. He was also indicted for disregarding a traffic control device and failure to wear a seat belt.

Investigators say 19-year-old Jordan White was turning left onto Washington Road from Ronald Reagan Drive when Jackson allegedly ran a red light and slammed into her. A Gold Cross helicopter took White to the hospital where she later died on Sept. 13.

Tests confirmed that Jackson's blood alcohol content was 0.281. In Georgia, a BAC over 0.08 is above the legal limit. There were not any drugs in his system at the time of the accident.
