BLACKVILLE, S.C. (WRDW) -- A 47-year-old man has died from a single gunshot wound in Blackville, S.C., according to Barnwell County Coroner Lloyd Ward. Blackville Police Chief John Holston says his department is treating the case as the town's first murder this year.
Officers arrived to the scene where the body was found on the corner of Dewitt Street and Oak Avenue around 12:45 a.m.
Neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot 10 minutes before.
The man was found bleeding from his mouth and head. EMS determined he was dead on the scene.
"Whoever it is [responsible], the only thing I'm saying is God knows who you are," says Jamie Jones, a family friend of the victim. "You know, he'll bring it forth, and I'm a strong believer in that."
Chief Holston says the victim is a middle-aged black male. On Thursday afternoon, he was identified as Roger Isaac.
Holston says there are no suspects or solid leads at this time.
The body was taken to Newberry, S.C., for an autopsy. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is handling the investigation.
"It's ridiculous the way things is going on, so my thing is to the people of this community," says Jones, who visited the scene this morning, "if you know something, report it to the police officers. Let them do their jobs because they have a job to do."
