BEECH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is looking for suspects after an armed robbery and shooting in Beech Island.

An incident report says that around 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday night, a black male and black female entered Moe's Convenience Store on Sand Bar Ferry Road. The report says both people were dressed in all black with black masks covering their faces.

Witnesses say the female suspect went to the front counter to take money from the register while the male suspect went into a back room where two other employees were. The report says the male suspect, wielding two hand guns, demanded money from the two men.

Haresh Vyas, one of the employees, confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued, the report says. The armed suspect then began firing shots. One of them struck the top of Vyas' head.

Vyas was later transported to Georgia Health Sciences University with minor injuries.

The report says the two suspects fled down Urquhart Road with an unknown amount of cash.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office CID processed the scene and took statements from witnesses.
