EMANUEL COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) --The five juveniles accused of starting a rumor about a student with a handgun at Swainsboro High School last week appeared in court on Monday.
Juvenile Court Judge Sherri McDonald ordered the teens to remain at a youth detention center until their next hearing.
The school was locked down for three hours on Feb. 7 after a staff member was notified that a student with a handgun was on school property.
After searching the school, investigators say they did not find any weapons or explosives and that they believe students involved with gang activity started the rumor.
