AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Investigators are searching for a man accused of shooting at a police officer early Thursday morning.

It all began when Richmond County deputies were called to the Waffle House on the 2000 block of Gordon Highway for an armed robbery.

While deputies were en route to the scene, they saw an SUV speeding down eastbound on Gordon Highway in the westbound lanes near the Waffle House. When they tried to stop the SUV, the driver turned onto Sibley Road and then into Raes Creek Mobile Home Park.

One of the passengers, Joaquin Hogan, got out of the SUV and ran away. Hogan is said to have then turned toward Deputy Danny Haywood's marked patrol car and started firing his handgun at Haywood. The deputy returned fire and Hogan ran into the trailer park.

No one was injured in the gunfire exchange.

Willie McNair and Montravious McNair were also in the car. They were taken into custody and booked into the Richmond County Jail for armed robbery.

Hogan is still on the loose and is wanted for armed robbery, aggravated assault against a police officer and other weapons charges. He is said to live in Barton Village.
