AIKEN, S.C. -- The work continues to clean up crime in an Aiken neighborhood.
On Thursday night, Aiken Public Safety officers raided three homes in Crosland Park during a drug investigation. Investigators found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The homes were on Schroder Avenue, Vincent Street and Sommers Avenue.
In all, three adults and one juvenile were arrested. Those arrested are 25-year-old Nelson L. Williams, 24-year-old Lancy Lee Cheatham and 22-year-old Catherine Adams. The juvenile is not being identified.
Officers are charging Williams with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession within intent to distribute within a half mile of a school or park. Cheatham is facing two charges: simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators are only charging Adams and the juvenile with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Aiken County deputies and North Augusta Public Safety officers played in a role in making these arrests. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms "RAGE" Task Force helped with executing search warrants.
Jake Mahoney, spokesperson for the Aiken Public Safety Department said, "The residents of Crosland Park have told us that they do not want their neighborhood to be known as a haven for drug dealers. They want to feel safe in their homes and safe on their streets. Taking away the dealers and the distributors of drugs will go a long way towards making the neighborhood safer."
