AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A former employee of Sunbelt Nissan on Peach Orchard Road is accused of taking money from customers for his personal use.

Jerry Alan Doss, 53, was arrested on Wednesday and is charged with one count of felony theft by taking.

According to the incident report, Vice President of Sunbelt Nissan Mike Watson told deputies that Doss had taken money three different times within June and July.

Watson says Doss took $8,400 from a customer for a down payment, wrote up a receipt and filled out a bill of sale. According to the incident report, after being asked to turn in the bill of sale, Doss allegedly could not explain where the money was.

Watson claims Doss took $2,500 and $340 from other customers.

According to the incident report, Watson says Doss sent him an email after being fired saying he would like to pay the money back and that he did not mean to hurt anyone.
