Family members arrested, accused of abusing 4-year-old child

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Two people are in jail accused of abusing a 4-year-old.
The child's grandmother, 45-year-old Aileen Satoafaiga, and cousin, 19-year-old Preston Kelly, are being charged with cruelty to children in the first degree.
Deputies say they received a call Friday from Warren Road Elementary school after the child was not seen in school for several days. The school also received an anonymous call advising that the student was being abused.
According to the report, deputies were told Satoafaiga was hiding the child due to the marks on the body.
Investigators found the child in the attic being held by Kelly/
The child was transported to GHSU for treatment and is expected to recover.
Satoafaiga and Kelly are currently being held at the Richmond County Jail on first-degree cruelty to children under the Family Violence Act.
