NEW ELLENTON, S.C. (WRDW) -- The New Ellenton Police Department has arrested both of the juveniles wanted for shooting at homes and dogs on Sizemore Avenue on Saturday.
Cpl. Detroit Spires says the first suspect arrested, a 15-year-old, was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
The second suspect, 17-year-old Shaquez Wright, was arrested by New Ellenton P.D. later Monday night without incident. He'll soon be booked into the Aiken County Detention Center.
Officers say the two juveniles walked through a New Ellenton neighborhood randomly shooting at homes, yards and dogs on Saturday around 7:30 p.m.
At least two families on Sizemore Avenue were affected. Witnesses say the men shot two dogs. One of the dogs was shot twice. Both were rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic for treatment.
According to Sgt. Hugh Ray with the New Ellenton Police Department, a neighbor begged the men to not shoot her dog, but the men shot the dog anyway.
Ray says the men fired off at least six shots.
Aiken County deputies and the New Ellenton Police Department called out the Sheriff's Office bloodhounds to track down the suspects, but they had no luck Saturday night.
Spires says his department is overwhelmingly thankful for the help they received from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office and the DJJ.
