UPDATE: Name of victim released in downtown Augusta shooting

Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- One person was sent to the hospital Thursday morning after getting shot in the leg in downtown Augusta.

Quinterious Denzel Roberson, 21, was shot around 1:45 a.m. at 11th and Ellis streets.

Deputies say Roberson was walking from a business to his car when he discovered a man was inside it.

When he approached his car, he asked the man why he was in his car. That's when deputies say the man crawled from the passenger side to the driver's side and got out of the car.

Once the suspect was outside the vehicle, the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the victim.

Before the victim could give money to the suspect, he was shot once in the leg.

Deputies describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male with short dreads. The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and dark-colored jeans. He was last seen running away from the scene.
