Shootout at teen house party caught on camera

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WRDW) -- A camera caught a shootout from over the weekend, and the shooters are still on the loose. News 12 was there as deputies began their investigation into an incident that left a neighborhood on edge.

Investigators were looking for answers in south Augusta's Cambridge neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, just a day after surveillance footage showed group of men walk down Thames Place and start shooting into a crowd of teens.

"I stepped out to ask them to move, and I noticed across the street there was about five or seven guys walking, one carrying a shotgun, and the other looked like they were carrying pistols," neighbor Gregory Davis said.

Only a few seconds later, he heard the guns go off.

"The gentlemen with the shotgun raised his shotgun up and start firing and that's when I went back in the house and called 911," Davis said.

As he called 911, chaos was going on outside.

"Speaking to the 911 operator, I said, 'Did you hear me?' They're shooting. They're outside. I'm inside, and I have my sons on the floor," he explained.

Kids scattered everywhere, neighbors hearing shot after shot.

"It wasn't one or two shots. It was multiple shots continuously," Davis said.

The video confirms what he heard. You can see the muzzle flash as one man shoots several times as he's running away.

A different camera shows another man raise what looks like a gun while a person to his right fires at least two shots. While the commotion only lasted a couple minutes, Davis says his youngest son found evidence of what happened the next day.

"My youngest son, we were out right before we were going to Sunday school. They're out walking, looking around the streets, and they found what looked to be a .38 or .22 pistol round. I'm not OK with my sons having to live in that kind of environment, period. I'm not OK with that environment," Davis said.
