COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- News 12 has just learned a Columbia County staff sergeant has been arrested.

On Feb. 22, a Columbia County resident told the Sheriff's Office that Staff Sgt. David Kitchens was trying to solicit business for personal injury attorneys while he was on the clock.

According to the incident report, Kitchens would use the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Records Management System to access incident reports that he would print and give to residents and attorneys, which is a violation of policies.

Kitchens, 48, was fired on Feb. 25 and was charged with violation of oath of office and computer theft on Tuesday.

Kitchens worked at the Burke County Sheriff's Office from May 1983 until December 1994. He started working at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 6, 1994.
