AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Two brothers were were arrested Friday morning in connection to multiple armed robberies in Augusta.
Kelvin Thomas and Calvin Thomas Jr. are accused in robberies that took place on Sept. 19, Oct. 1, Oct. 7 and Oct. 20. Each robbery targeted victims who had just cashed checks at the Walmart on Deans Bridge Road.
The Thomas brothers will be charged with four counts of armed robbery.
When they were arrested, investigators found marijuana at their houses. Calvin will be charged with felony manufacture of marijuana.
All four victims were males and all of the robberies took place in the afternoon.
The first victim, a 66-year-old man, says he was followed home from Walmart on Sept. 19 and approached from behind while in his driveway on Eden Court. He says the suspects pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at him and took $1,100 in money orders.
The second incident happened on Cameron Drive around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 1. The 72-year-old victim says a car drove up behind him in his driveway, and before he was able to get out of the car, one of the suspects came up to his window and pointed a gun at him. They were able to get away with $720 in cash.
When officers got to the scene of the third incident on Oct. 7, they found the injured 35-year-old victim and blood all over the driveway and steps of the home on Windermere Drive. The victim says a man came up behind him in his driveway and demanded money. When the victim denied him, he says one of the suspects hit him in the face with a gun. The victim was later taken to the hospital for injuries. He says they stole $400 in cash and three of his work paychecks.
The fourth armed robbery happened on Oct. 20 in the parking lot of the Hilton Garden Inn on Stevens Creek Road around 1:45 p.m. The 23-year-old victim says a man jumped out of a van, showed his firearm and took $520 in cash and a cellphone from his pockets before getting away.
