Armed robbery at Huddle House leaves workers shaken

Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Richmond County deputies are searching for two black males after they robbed a Huddle House at gunpoint.

Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Tobacco Road at 12:48 a.m. They say they arrived only about 20 seconds after the call because they were close by.

News 12 talked to the clerk that was manning the register when the robbery happened. She says the two men came in, held a gun to her and ordered her to open the cash register.

According to investigators, the men took all the cash from the register and all the tips from an employee. They say he left all the coins in the register.

The clerk says there was only one customer in the restaurant when the robbery occurred.

Investigators say both the men wore masks and gloves, and they ran into the neighborhood behind the restaurant after they gathered the money.

Investigators are still looking for both men. They are looking at surveillance video from the restaurant in hopes of identifying them.
