WINDSOR, S.C. -- A man was found dead in his mobile home after a fire on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the mobile home on Charlie’s Loop at about 1:45 p.m. They say it was already fully engulfed when they arrived. Once the fire was put out, firefighters found 72-year-old Howard S. Simmons inside.

Investigators say it was originally a brush fire and then spread to the mobile home. The Coroner's Office says it's unknown why Simmons went into his home after the fire started.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine what sparked the blaze.
