AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A judge denied bond for Dijon Abbott while Wade Smith entered a not guilty plea this morning in court.

Abbott, 17, allegedly shot and killed 19-year-old Marquez Eubanks, a former Laney High School football player.

A former deputy is now behind bars after a grand jury indicted him for tampering with evidence.

Along with the tampering charge, Smith is also facing a violation of oath of office charge.

The Sheriff's Office started investigating Smith in May for an incident that happened in November 2012. Investigators received a complaint he improperly handled and documented marijuana, a handgun and cash after a bust.
