Armed robber hits Super 8 motel

August 30, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say robbed the Super 8 motel in the 200 block of Boy Scout Road.

Deputies say that early yesterday morning, a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered the motel and demanded money. He took money from the register and the purse of the female clerk, who was present with her boyfriend.

Deputies say the robber struck the boyfriend in the head with the gun and forced the female clerk to undress, though they say the clerk was not sexually assaulted. After that, deputies say the robber fled the scene on foot.

Based on the physical and clothing description, investigators believe this robber may be the same man who robbed the Waffle House in the 2000 block of West River Watch Parkway, the Waffle House in the 1200 block of George C. Wilson Drive, and the Waffle King in the 1400 block of Walton Way.

The following photos are from the Waffle King robbery. No video or stills are available for the other robberies.

Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents can call the toll-free tip line at 866-939-5050.
