AUGUSTA, Ga.---A 19-year-old man who investigators say shot three teenagers with a shotgun Monday afternoon in south Augusta turned himself in.
Carron Anthony Winfrey was identified by the Sheriff's Office as the sole shooter in a drive-by shooting that happened on Alene Circle in the Meadow Grove neighborhood around 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
The three teenagers suffered superficial wounds after being hit with 12-gauge pellets, or bird shot pellets. The three teens are now out of the hospital and are expected to recover quickly.
Investigators say three carloads of people, including the suspect, chased two of the victims in their car from Morgan Road. After the car was in the Meadow Grove subdivision, it crashed into a brick mailbox in order to stop. The two jumped out of the car and started running, and that's when they were shot.
Investigators say a third person was mowing his grandmother's yard when he was also shot.
Investigators say the shooting could be gang-related and retaliatory.
