COLUMBIA, S.C.---A convicted killer who escaped from a Columbia prison has been recaptured. Authorities spent the day using boats, helicopters and bloodhounds to search an area around the prison where Forrest Kelly escaped last night.

He was seen this morning climbing out of the Broad River and heading for a neighborhood near an overpass on I-20. He was fished out of that same river around 7:30 this evening.

Kelly has a history of violent crime convictions and was serving a life sentence for killing a Laurens motel owner in 1996.
