Deputies name suspect in club murder

July 10, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Richmond County deputies have identified 18-year-old Darion Antonio McNair as their prime suspect in the shooting death of Stedmund Fryer early yesterday morning.

Sgt. Richard Roundtree tells News 12 the murder was precipitated by an ongoing dispute, and that there was a physical altercation before Fryer was shot in the chest. Sgt. Roundtree also says that several hours afterwards, the home of the McNair's sister was riddled with gunfire. One adult relative was home at the time, but was uninjured.

Jordash Tanksley is not a suspect in this particular case, but Sgt. Roundtree says he is an "associate" of McNair and that there are outstanding assault and weapons charges against him. Deputies warn that both men should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous".

If you know where either of the two men are, call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080. You can remain anonymous.
