AUGUSTA, GA--Investigators say someone shot an 18-year-old in the middle of a crowded dance floor. It happened at 2:20 this morning at Club Super C, in the 2700 block of Tobacco Road.

Investigators say this is the first murder at Club Super C, but it's certainly not the first time they've been out there. People who live and work nearby say they see blue lights all the time.

This morning, the parking lot was filled with deputies trying to figure out who killed 18-year-old Stedmund Fryer inside the crowded club. Pete Costello lives just down the street, and he says he wasn't surprised. The sound of gunfire in the middle of the night is not uncommon.

"People hang out in the street. If there's too many in the club, they're in the parking lot." He said.

This area is also a problem for nearby businesses. One pawn shop owner says he gets a lot of late night break-ins, and he suspects it might have something to do with the large crowds coming from the club into his parking lot.

Records from the Sheriff's Department show they've responded to everything; from trespassing, to theft, to aggravated assault with a weapon.

"We have responded to that area in reference to shootings, in reference to fights. It has been a hotspot of ours for the past several years." Said Sgt. Richard Roundtree.

Monday's homicide makes the 30th incident reported in this area in just one year. Sergeant Roundtree says someone shot Stedmund fryer in the middle of the dance floor, packed with about 200 other potential witnesses.

"That leads us to believe the victim was the intended target, based on the proximity of the shot and the boldness of the shooter." Sgt. Roundtree said.

"I saw it on the news. It's not the first time, and it's not going to be the last time." that's Pete Costello's fear--that trouble will continue right down the street from his home.
