AIKEN, S.C.---Caught red-handed, a thief is seen on video stealing almost $2,000 worth of alcohol. It happened Sunday at Harvard's Liquor Store off Whiskey Road in Aiken, when the store was closed.
Despite 16 cameras and two monitors on display on the sales room floor, officers say Steven Hill stole more than 40 bottles of booze.
Owner Tony Suh tells News 12 it happened around 7 p.m. Aiken Public Safety officers responded to the security alarm when Hill broke in but once they cleared the scene, Hill made five more appearances before finally leaving the store. Hill is seen on tape stealing expensive bottles of Hennessy and Remi XO, sold for $150 a bottle, along with dozens of bottles of Crown Royal.
Once officers were able to review the surveillance video, one of the investigators was able to recognize Hill on tape. According to jail officials, Hill was already booked in the Aiken County Jail for charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle. Police were able to recover about 90% of the stolen goods from Hill's home.
