Investigators say thieves are targeting to local hospitals, and it could be for quick cash. Break-ins happened last weekend at the Medical College of Georgia, University, and Jefferson hospitals, as well as at the Burke County Medical Center.

Investigators say there are a lot of similarities in the way each burglary happened. Every hospital had pry-marks on the doors, and most also had pry-marks on their safes.

Jefferson Hospital chief executive officer Heyward Wells says he found that evidence when he got to work Monday morning.

"The safe was relatively beat up where someone tried to pry open the door repeatedly." Wells said.

Reports say flooding went with the burglaries at MCG. Someone apparently tried to pry their way into several offices, and left the water running when he or she left. Sergeant Richard Roundtree says the same thing happened at University Hospital, and the reason behind it could be cash.

"Most doctors and small businesses have petty cash boxes. it appears to be an attempt to target petty cash in each office." Sgt. Roundtree said.

Reports say burglars ransacked offices at University Hospital. At MCG, Burke, and Jefferson County hospitals, they went for the safe.

Heyward says fortunately, the burglar left his hospital empty-handed. He says their main concern is increasing security.

"Our main objective is absolutely to keep patients and staff safe. That's our main concern, and we're happy no one was harmed in here." He said.

Investigators are still trying to determine if these cases are related.

i think it sad for someone to try and steal from anywhere. If you need money get a job.Doctors and hospitals are one of our many blessings.Randsacked offices and running water is not the way to get a discount it only make the people have to pay extra for the clean up.Get a job go earn your money or keep looking over your shoulder cause one day you will be caught.
