AUGUSTA, Ga.---There were three shootings in Augusta this afternoon. Deputies say two of them are connected and gang-related.
Deputies say a fight resulting in a shooting happened at Gilbert Manor. No one was injured in this shooting, but some vehicles were shot.
Later, another shooting happened in the 1400 block of Wrightsboro Road. Two people were injured in that shooting.
Deputies believe the shootings may have been in retaliation for a shooting that happened on Olive Road earlier this year. Investigators say four men were involved in that shooting, in which a 19-year-old was shot in front of the Pak-n-Go station.
A third, unrelated shooting occurred in the 3400 block of Linderwood Drive in south Augusta. We're told that in that shooting, the homeowner arrived to find his home had been burglarized. Guns were among the missing items.
The homeowner suspected the burglar would return, and when the burglar did return, the homeowner shot him in the abdomen.
That burglary suspect is now in the hospital. No word on the severity of his injuries.
Deputies had search dogs out in that area because tracks were found that indicated there might be more suspects.
Some of the homeowner's belongings were recovered behind the home.
