AUGUSTA, Ga. ---According to investigators, at around 9:40 this morning, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called to an attempted robbery at the Family Collar on Central Avenue.

The suspect entered the business and picked up several items. He took the items to the clerk, acting like he was going to buy them. He then drew a small handgun and demanded the clerk open the register.

The clerk was unable to open the register and let out a screen when the suspect attempted to open the register. The suspect fled without getting any money.

The suspect is described as a black male, mid to late 20s, about five feet seven inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He had a goatee and acne scars on his face. He was wearing a New York Yankees jacket with a quilted pattern, turned inside out. Investigators believe they have recovered the jacket.

If you have any information on this robbery or the suspect, please contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080 or the Tip Line at 866-939-5050.

this is awful. I know with the holidays coming that the crime is going to get worst. Everyone be very careful. don't carry a pocketbook and lock your car doors. don't go out shopping at night and try to park and well lit areas.
