Richmond County deputies catch bank robbery suspect

April 10, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Richmond County deputies have captured a man they say robbed the Crown Bank on Peach Orchard Road this morning.

Investigators have arrested James Edward Parker. They say he passed a teller a note saying he had a bomb and he wanted his pillowcase filled with money.

They caught him just down the road, on Peach Orchard at Plantation Road, after he left the bank.

The bank closed down immediately as investigators interviewed the customers inside.

"Any bank can be robbed...and when it's yours, there's nothing you can do," said bank customer Bill Lofton. "It's dumbfounding."

This robbery took place at the same time as investigators were working a murder case. Click here for that story.
