WAYNESBORO, Ga.---Ezumer Palmer was arrested Thursday after more than four pounds of cocaine, guns, and cash were found at his home in Keysville. He was in the Burke County Jail in Waynesboro for four days. Then, according to reports, he took his own life.

When Ezumer was found hanged in his cell, the investigation was immediately turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Everyone in the sheriff's department is remaining tightlipped about what happened. News 12 spoke with Ezumer's sister and sister-in-law. They did not want to be on camera and were very upset, in search of answers.

Palmer's sister-in-law says someone told her he'd hanged himself.

"At 7:20 this morning is when he was discovered, in a cell by himself," Agent Gary Nicholson with the GBI said.

Thursday's arrest, on charges of trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, wasn't the only trouble Palmer's been in.

He was a convicted felon. He did federal time and was released in 1999.

"We don't have any indication at this point to indicate that anything outside of a suicide case is involved here, but we will completely investigate it to make sure nothing else is involved," Agent Nicholson said.

As the investigation progresses, Nicholson says they'll learn more about what the circumstances were, and if Palmer may have been on a suicide watch.

Results on the autopsy should be back late this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
